What Is God Heal Our Land? The Story and the Vision
By Daniel Ziedins · · 3 min read

God Heal Our Land is a national call to prayer, repentance, and revival for Canada, built on 2 Chronicles 7:14. It began in Hamilton, Ontario, it is interdenominational, and there is nothing to join and nothing to pay. It is a verse, a country, and whoever is willing to pray.
That is the one-paragraph answer. Here is the story behind it, and what it asks of the people who take part.
It started with a walk
It was a cold and windy day when a small group of believers met at Tim Hortons Field in Hamilton and walked around the stadium seven times. If that sounds familiar, it should. On the seventh day at Jericho, God's people marched around the city seven times before the walls came down (Joshua 6:15–16). This was not a stunt. It was a small, physical act of faith: praying for the land and believing God would answer.
That walk became the seed of a vision. On Canada Day, July 1st, 2023, thousands of believers from across the nation gathered in that same stadium to worship, pray, and proclaim the Gospel together. A handful of people walking in the wind had become a crowd filling the stands.
What the movement believes
- That 2 Chronicles 7:14 describes how God responds to His people: when they humble themselves, pray, seek His face and turn from sin, He hears, forgives and heals.
- That the conditions in that verse are addressed to the Church, not the culture. The healing of a land begins with the repentance of God's people inside it.
- That God has moved on this land before, and that we are asking Him to do again what He has already done here.
- That a healed land is ultimately a land whose people come home to God — so prayer and evangelism belong together.
What it is not
God Heal Our Land is not a denomination; unity across church lines is the point, not a complication. It is not a membership; there is nothing to sign up for and no fee. And it is not a political project. We pray for those in authority whoever they are, as Scripture tells us to, and we do not confuse a party with the Kingdom of God.
How people take part
- Pray daily for Canada. The site's seven-day guide gives one focus for each day of the week, from the Church to the next generation to revival.
- Start a gathering. Two people and a night in the calendar is enough. The guide on this site shows how to keep it simple and consistent.
- Post on the Prayer Wall. Every prayer is read and moderated, then others across the country can stand with you — no email or full name required.
- Go. Prayer for a land turns into people being sent into it. Partner with those already on the streets sharing Jesus.
Who it partners with
The movement works alongside Love on Hamilton, which has been loving this city on its streets since 2014; the Jesus Festival, a free gathering at Gage Park that held its third year in September 2026; and Daniel and Katie Ziedins' ministry, Love Overflow, which partners with e3 Canada and I Am Second to equip believers to evangelize and establish multiplying churches.
Why it matters now
Canada has changed faster, religiously, than almost anywhere in the Western world: the share of people reporting a Christian faith fell from 77.1% in 2001 to 53.3% in 2021. But there is real hunger rising, especially among young people, and the history of this country says that is exactly the moment God has moved before.
“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
— 2 Chronicles 7:14
It started with a few people walking around a stadium in the wind. It continues with whoever is willing to pray next. That could be you, today.
